Ah, the glory days. The reflected fame. The adulation for other,
more famous people. The missing apostrophe. I will include many to make
up for it in this post.
Many years ago at the Haight Street Festival I was part of a small
drum circle led by Stephen Perkins. We were just chillin', gabbin',
spliffin'... then we got into the percussion bin. So now we are
jammin' out near the panhandle, and Perkins starts walkin', still
rockin'. He leads us down Haight, and everyone is clappin', groovin'.
We end up in front of the stage. Then all of a sudden we are being
led up onto the stage, where Perkins site down at a full kit and
starts kickin' a shredding beat over the one we had established on
hand drums. He's goin' off.
Then I look over and there's Perry Farrell, vibin'. Rockin' two toms.
As a Jane's Addiction fan, I was thrilled. Then I sort of forgot all about the whole thing.
Ten years later someone send my a YouTube URL. And...
